Each year in Great Britain there are on average 150 dangerous occurrences involving compressed air, with about six resulting in fatal or serious injury according to the British Compressed Air Society (BCAS). These incidents are entirely preventable through proper training and following safety procedures. Compressed air is commonly used on construction sites but can be extremely dangerous when misused. Even low pressures can cause serious injuries including permanent eye damage, air embolism, and hearing loss. This course covers the key legislation including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, PSSR 2000, and HSE guidance HSG39. You'll learn to recognise hazards, use equipment safely, and follow proper procedures when working with compressed air systems.
